The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will go official in less than two months, and so far, there is a lot of hype surrounding the new device. However, one thing that has garnered even more hype is that the company could be working on releasing a more affordable variant as well. That variant will not debut in July but probably sometime later this year. Unfortunately, multiple sources are talking about how Samsung has canceled the device.
The cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be canceled because of uncertainty and lack of differentiation
A new report from The Elec talks about how Samsung is currently in the process of reexamining its plans for the more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6. The source claims several reasons behind the cancellation. For starters, there is a lack of differentiation and uncertainty about whether the industry will embrace the low-cost alternative. The thickness of the phone was also not thinner than the Chinese competition, and that is another thing that bothered the South Korean firm. In any case, we actually might not see a more affordable alternative going forward.
The report further discusses how Samsung is only looking forward to releasing the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. This means that the rumored affordable Z Flip is also canceled, but the report does not explicitly mention that. Samsung will, however, launch its other fan edition devices later this year, so you can always wait for those to come out.
Another confirmation about this cancellation is coming from a renowned tipster who also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6's cheaper alternative has been canceled. If multiple reports and sources are confirming the same thing, then it is safe to say that we might have to forget about a more affordable foldable phone from Samsung,
Considering that Samsung is going to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in July, there will be more information in the coming weeks. As far as the more affordable devices are concerned, they will not be released until the end of the year, when Samsung will hold a separate event for the Galaxy S24 FE, along with other more affordable devices that the company has planned. We will learn a lot more information in the coming weeks, so we will be sure to keep you posted.
