And states do not HAVE to set up exchanges. If they refuse, citizens can just use the Federal exchange...

 

The Tea Party is taking candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties. Didn't it just happen in the Texas senate race? I believe it did.

What makes you think the Tea Party expands Democratic (or Republican) majorities. The Tea Party has its own agenda, and is using the machines of both parties.

Ryan is proof of that. Would you really call him a Republican? I would not.

As for me personally, I think you would be surprised. After all, I do vote Democrat about 40% of the time. Really.

I love to argue. I like to make threads that sit on top for a weekend and rile everyone up. I have a ball when I go up against Distant Lover and Kimiko (alas, she is gone). Stumbler, not so much. There is something very bitter about him, almost like this is not so much debate as it is a battle over life and death. Just a little too intense.

As for you... I don't know. Jury's out. You go to personal at the drop of a dime. I suppose I don't like that too much.

I have never said I attended college at Harvard. I am there all the time, but I did not go to college there, and please let's leave it at that.

I did say unfunded. That is wrong. I meant underfunded The states do not have the resources that they need for implementation, and all of them are behind.

I can prove it, but please don't make me do it. WSJ had a big story on it a couple weeks ago, but I get a PAPER newspaper at home, and it is work to find these stories at wsj.online. If you want to know if the exchanges are adequately funded, go to Google, but you really do have to skip all the propaganda on pages one-to-three, and find the actual news on pages five-and-beyond.

As for you, I actually try to throttle back, when you are around, because you are so nice that I don't want to offend you.

I can really get going when I am on a roll with the rant threads. ("Conquor Mexico", and "Granny is a Squaw," and more lately the real gem, "Is homosexuality hereditary.")

When you come onto those threads, and a couple other nice people, I kind of wince, because I feel like I've been up to mischief.

Those threads are meticulously tailored to maximize the suffering of DistantLover, Baller, and some of the other people who go out of the way to exacerbate my pain.

Last spring when Ryan unveiled his budget proposal, which proposed changing Medicare to a private program with government subsidies, pollsters jumped to see what Americans thought.

A flurry of polls showed a majority or at least a plurality of voters didn't like Ryan's idea. Among the elderly, it was wildly unpopular.

In June 2011 a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey found that 58 percent of American adults opposed the Medicare idea, while just 35 percent said they supported. Among the elderly, the disapproval rate soared to 74 percent. Even among conservative voters, 54 percent disapproved.

This is going to be an interesting election. Since 1980 Republicans have promised tax cuts to be paid for with painless, unspecified spending cuts, which nevertheless, exclude the military.

This time Paul Ryan is very specific. He is going to cut Social Security and Medicare. So far the voters do not seem to like it.

I'm certainly not voting for Romney but I remember Obama was ready to throw Social Security and Medicare under the bus also when he was negotiating the Health Care package with Republicans. I don't trust him either.
